Summit- Debra Lynn Zenir, 64, of Summit, passed away in her home on Thursday, November 2nd. She was born in Mahopac on February 12,1959 to John and Mary McCauley. She graduated from Carmel High school where she excelled in softball and basketball. Deb met her husband, Pete, while painting his parents house. After a fun-filled courtship, the two were married in Carmel and celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary this June. They moved upstate in 1988 to make their forever home in the mountains.
Deb was the rock of her family. She was always a compassionate listener for her three daughters, their friends, and neighbors alike. A tireless homemaker, she shuttled kids to extracurriculars, welcomed all to her front porch, and took pride in her kitchen and Irish heritage. She selflessly cared for everyone and loved animals, especially cats.
She is predeceased by her parents and brother, George (Louise) Winters. She is survived by her brothers, Tom (Melissa) Winters and Charlie (Theresa) McCauley, her husband (Pete), and daughters: Elizabeth (Dave) Caruso, Sarah (Joshua) Rohde, and Marianne (Josh) Taylor. She was a playful “Gigi” and grandma to Ava, Savannah, Henry, and Greta.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 9th at St. Vincent DePaul Church 138 Washington Ave., Cobleskill at 11am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12pm. Donations can be made to the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, PO Box 40, Howes Cave, NY 12092.
