Debra Baxter

Seward- Debra M. Baxter, 66, of Patrick Road, died Friday, August 20, 2021, at Palatine Nursing Home following a long illness.

Born March 29, 1955, in Cobleskill, she was the daughter of Norma (S. Sommers) Fancher and the late Raymond B. Fancher.

Debra was a graduate of the former Cobleskill Central School.  She was a senior account clerk typist for Schoharie County Dept. of Health for many years.

In her younger years, Debra did barrel racing with horses at the fairgrounds. She also had a passion for snowmobile racing. Deb always enjoyed watching Lifetime and Hallmark movies, her favorite was the Christmas in July.  She found pleasure in reading romance novels and occupying her time with puzzles.

Debra married Bruce D. Baxter, formerly of Sharon, on May 16, 1981, and they celebrated their 40th anniversary this year.  She had a strong will determination and strength.  The love for her family was immeasurable.

Survivors include her husband, Bruce D. Baxter; her two children:  Sandy Gray of Cobleskill and Raymond (Monique) Baxter of Camden, NY; her mother, Norma Fancher of Henderson, NC; two sisters: Jo-ann (Billy) Graig of Blythe, GA and Dixie Borst of Henderson, NC; brother, Lewis (Shelly) Fancher of Oxford, NC and four grandsons: Jonathan and Christopher Gray of Cobleskill and Rome and Logan Baxter of Camden along with several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 12PM on Friday, August 27, 2021 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill with Rev. David Houck presiding.  Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held prior to the service from 10AM until noon.
