Sharon Springs, NY - Dante N. Saginario, Sr., 80, of Stage Coach Rd., died Saturday, January 31, 2009 at his home following a brief illness.
Mr. Saginario was born on November 1, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY, and was the son of the late Giovina (Maranella) and Filippo Saginario.
After high school, he joined the United States Navy and attained the rank of Fireman, First Class. Mr. Saginario lived in Wantagh, Long Island from 1967-1986 before moving to Sharon Springs and worked as a night auditor at the Best Western Inn of Cobleskill, NY until just recently.
He was a member of the Cobleskill VFW Post #5088 and the Tin Can Sailors Association. Mr. Saginario enjoyed playing poker and rooting for the New York METS baseball team.
Mr. Saginario was of Catholic faith.
He is survived by his wife, Marie (Renna) Saginario of Sharon Springs, NY, whom he married on May 19, 1951, a daughter; Nancy (Glenn) Yee of West Babylon, NY, two sons; Dante N. Saginario, Jr., of Sharon Springs, NY and Phillip J. (Mary) Saginario of Richmondville, NY, nine grandchildren and 5 ? great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM, Monday, February 2, 2009 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 138 Washington Ave., Cobleskill, NY, with Father Paul Engel as celebrant. Cremation will follow at the Vale Crematory, Schenectady. NY.
