Seward- Clinton “Clint” J. Spaulding, 87, of State Route 10 died peacefully in the comfort of his own home with his loving family at his side on Sunday, March 7, 2021.
Born April 11, 1933 in Hensonville, NY, he was the son of Arthur L and Fannie (Tompkins) Spaulding.
Clint loved spending time with family and friends, of all ages, laughing and telling stories. He enjoyed many years square dancing with his wife and bowling on Tuesday nights with friends. He and his wife bought their dairy farm, Vall-End Farms, in 1963, where he enjoyed many long hours taking care of his cows, in the barn and working the land. During his time on the farm, he served as an Agway Committee member, and never hesitated to help a neighbor get hay in before the rains or any other chore that needed tending to. He retired from the farm in 1998 but continued to be active for many years running his son’s bulldozer, and entertaining visitors at his home over a cup of coffee.
Clint married Beatrice Rockwell on July 20, 1958 and she predeceased him on March 15, 2012. He was also predeceased by his brother LeRoy and sisters, Marie Stanton and Jessie Cole.
Forever treasuring their memories are his children: Susan (Andy) Gilchrist of Cobleskill, Duane (Carol) Spaulding of Seward, Kevin (Jeannette) Spaulding of Seward and Gary Spaulding of Bushnell, FL; five grandchildren: Leanne Spaulding, Kevin Gately, Ashley Spaulding, Bradley Spaulding and Aidan Gilchrist; two great-grandchildren; his siblings: Helen (Sam) Warner of Cobleskill, Martha Mann of Queensbury and Charles (Arlene) Spaulding of Florida and his sister-in-law Nancy Spaulding of Lawyersville; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation to be held from 11 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. A private funeral service will be held for the immediate family and interment in the spring will be in Zion Rural Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Marathon for a Better Life, PO Box268, Warnerville, NY 12187 or Helios Care, 297 River St. Service Road Suite 1, Oneonta, NY 13820.
