Cobleskill- Claudia Cora Hummel, 82, passed away at Palatine Nursing Home on March 4, 2020.

Born August 2, 1937 in Schoharie, NY she was the daughter of Leon and Mabel (Pickett) Friss.

Claudia was a communicant of the St. Vincent de Paul Church and a long-time volunteer in the Sapphire Unit, working the snack bar at Cobleskill Regional Hospital. She received special recognition for volunteering over 300 hours.  Claudia was a member of the Red Hat Society, The Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Post 57 and a TOPS member. Claudia was an avid collector of pocketbooks, jewelry and angels.

Claudia is survived by her son, Joseph Hummel of Cobleskill; grandchildren: Melissa Hummel, Cecelia Hummel, Ryan Hummel and Zachery Hummel and her great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents predeceased her as did her husband, Robert J. Hummel, who passed away in 2008, her sisters: Ellen Canastra, Theresa Cook and Margaret Slater; her sons: Robert A. Hummel and Timothy Hummel who both passed away in 2018.

Visiting hours will be held at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill on Friday March 13, 2020 from 5pm to 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday March 14, 2020 at 11am at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 138 Washington Ave, Cobleskill, NY. Interment will be in the spring at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made in Claudia’s name to the American Legion Post 57, PO Box 252, Cobleskill, NY or at the St. Vincent de Paul Church, 138 Washington Ave, Cobleskill, NY 12043.
