Charlotte Miers Grossbeck, 87, of Cornelius, NC, passed away on February 12, 2025. Born in Albany, NY, on December 4, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Walter R. and Helen B. Miers. Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Grossbeck, and her brother, Bruce W. Miers.
She is survived by sons, Eric J. of Los Angeles, CA, and Kevin A. and his wife Penny of Mooresville, NC; grandson KJ (Kevin Jr.) Grossbeck of Mooresville, NC; sister Marilyn Paluszak and her husband Robert of The Villages, FL; sister-in-law Barbara Agnew Miers of Apple Valley, MN; nephew Jeffrey Miers and his wife Janice of Mesa, AZ; and niece Kelly Savage and her companion Brett Erickson of Minneapolis, MN.
Mrs. Grossbeck was a passionate educator who dedicated her career to teaching at high schools and colleges across New York state; including positions in Dolgeville, Niskayuna, and Cobleskill.
She later became a professor at SUNY Cobleskill, until her retirement. After spending over seventy years in New York, she moved to North Carolina to enjoy her retirement surrounded by family.
A private funeral service will be held.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family kindly requests donations be made in Charlotte’s memory to Habitat for Humanity or the Shriners Hospital for Children in Springfield, Massachusetts. Both organizations were near and dear to her heart, and she devoted many hours of her time and energy to supporting their missions throughout her life.
