Mrs. Charlotte M. Brouwer, 79, formerly of Middleburgh, died Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, Long Island
following a brief illness.
Charlotte was born June 20, 1931 in Fort Totten, NY, to the late Jennie (McCarthy) and Leslie A. Dunscombe.
She worked for many years with the Schoharie County ARC, lastly as a residential manager in Middleburgh.
Charlotte lived in the Middleburgh area for forty years and attended the Huntersland United Methodist Church. She volunteered with many community organizations before moving to her daughter's home in Ridge, NY in 2001.
Charlotte is survived by her daughter: Charlotte M. Brouwer of Ridge, NY; two sons: Jacob Brouwer, III of Hesperia, CA and Glenn Mark Brouwer of Palm Springs, CA; two sisters: Beryl Shaylor of Hendersonville, NC and Marjorie Rivenburg of Middleburgh; two brothers: Leslie Dunscombe, Jr. of Michigan and Edward J. Dunscombe of Middleburgh; four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh with Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntesland United Methodist Church officiating. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home from 6 to 7 PM, Saturday, prior to the service. Spring interment will be in Middleburgh Cemetery.
