Richmondville- Charles, "Bill" L. Vroman, 82, of Richmondville, died Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home in Stamford, where he had been a resident for the past year.
Born January 2, 1930 in Harpersfield, NY, he was the son of Erwin and Bertha (Armstrong) Vroman.
Bill retired from General Electric where he worked in the maintenance department for thirty years. He was a former Boy Scout Master and an avid outdoorsman that loved hunting and fishing.
Bill was a United States Army Korean War veteran, serving from 1948 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1951. He was a member of the Cobleskill VFW Post 5088.
He was a communicant of the former St. Anna's Catholic Church in Summit and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Worcester.
Survivors include his wife: Dorothy J. (Mravlja) Vroman, whom he married May 22, 1954; daughter: Michelle (Garry) Davis of Richmondville; son: Michael Vroman of Schoharie; four grandchildren: Regina Mann, Nathan Davis, Kayla Davis, and Justin Davis; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his siblings: Mary Ellen Parks, Irene Sullivan, Ralph Vroman, Howard Vroman, Paul Vroman, Clarence Vroman, Carl Vroman, and Peter Vroman.
A funeral liturgy will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. Family and friends are also invited to attend a time of visitation to be held from 6 to 8 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be with military honors at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Worcester, NY.
