Middleburgh: Charles E. Sterry, 73, of Anderson Road, died Sunday, February 27, 2011 in Charlottesville, VA.
He was born in Brewster, NY on January 28, 1938 to the late Mary (Blaney) and John Walter Sterry.
Charles attended Brewster Central School before serving in the United States Army from 1955-1957.
He was a Cement Truck Operator for Brewster Transit Mix for forty years before retiring.
Charles enjoyed camping at the family's property on Kelsey Hill for 20 years, before moving to Middleburgh permanently, eleven years ago.
He enjoyed four-wheeling, snowmobiling and traveling in his motor-home to Florida and Wyoming.
Charles is survived by his wife of 51 years, Stella (Pegoli) Sterry, whom he married on November 14, 1959 and daughter, Janine Sterry Moore of Brewster; son, Charles E. Sterry, Jr. of Brewster; daughter, Kelly (John) Beurskens of Benicia, CA; grandchildren, Tiffany Storms, Taylor Beurskens, Chelsea Beurskens, Brendan Moore and great-grandson Thomas Forschner.
A Memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St. Middleburgh, NY with Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church officiating. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held from 1-2pm on Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Cremation took place in Charlottesville, VA.
