Charles E. Rowlison, 63, of State Route 30, died unexpectedly, Sunday, January 3, 2010 at the Cobleskill Regional Hospital after being stricken at his home.

Charlie was born on June 22, 1946 in Middleburgh, NY a son of the late Grace (Wayman) and Clarence Rowlison. After high school, Charlie served two years in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968. He was stationed in Germany and was a magazine keeper and ammunition store specialist. Charlie then worked as a machinist at General Electric in Schenectady for 31 years. Charlie was also a handyman that liked tinkering in his garage and generously giving his time and talents to many in need. He enjoyed nature, hunting, fishing and taking walks in the woods. He also enjoyed trips to Turning Stone and Mohegan Sun Casinos. Charlie was an active speaker, sponsor and 27 year member of Alcoholic's Anonymous. He enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Wednesday Mixed League at the Middleburgh Lanes and he played softball on the Old Timers League. Charlie was also a long-time coach and board member of the Middleburgh Little League.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 24 years, Robin (Umber) Rowlison whom he married on May 11, 1985 and daughters: Cherie Rowlison of Middleburgh, N.Y., Brittany Rowlison, of Saratoga Springs, NY, Mitzi (Jerry, Sr.) Beretz of New London, N.C.; sons: Joel Rowlison of Greenville, N.Y., Dean Rowlison of Memphis, TN. Chad Rowlison of Middleburgh, N.Y.; granddaughter: Ashley Garner of Middleburgh, N.Y., grandsons: Jerry (Tiffany) Beretz, Jr. of Concord, N.C., Joshua Beretz of New London, N.C.; great-granddaughter: Jinger Beretz of Concord, N.C.; brothers: Richard Rowlison and Larry "Hooch" Rowlison, both of Middleburgh, N.Y. Additional survivors include his dear friends: Kenny and Helen Ellicott, Ronnie Warner, and Jiggy Drinon.

A Celebration of Charlie's life will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh, with Father Thomas F. Holmes officiating. Friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday prior to the service. Cremation took place at Vale Crematory in Schenectady, N.Y. Interment will be private. A reception for family and friends will be held immediately following the service at the Middleburgh United Methodist Church Hall, Clauverwie, Middleburgh, NY.
