West Fulton- Charles "Bob" W. Edwards, Sr., 75, of West Fulton Rd., died unexpectedly on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Albany Medical Center.

Born October 31, 1938 in Nyack, he was the son of the late Lillian Edwards. Bob was raised and educated in Nyack and then joined the United States Army. He proudly served his country from 1957 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1960.

Following his military career he became a police officer with the Nyack Police Department. Bob was a member of the Sparkill Veterans of Foreign War and the Empire Hose #1 of Piermont. Upon his retirement in 1981, he moved to West Fulton.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all, spending time with his grandchildren.

Bob was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Shcupner and a great-grandson, Nicholas Edwards-Brisky

Survivors include his wife: Joyce (Hardy) Edwards; three children: Chuck (Diane) Edwards, Jr. of Unionville, Robin (Mahlon) Houston of West Fulton, and Stacey (Robert) Bendig of Middletown; six siblings: Edward J. (Linda) Schupner of Montgomery, Lawrence (Judith) Schupner of Goshen, Kenneth (Linda) Schupner of Westtown, Diane (Joseph) Wancho of Middletown, John (Jodi) Schupner of Congress, and Ronald (Ann) Schupner of Shenandoah, VA; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh where visitation will be held from 2 to 4 PM and 6 PM until the time of the service. Cremation will follow the service at Vale Crematory. Officiating will be Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church.
