Middleburgh- Cecil Charles Warner died Friday, December 11, 2009 at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home in Stamford.
Mr. Warner was born in Medusa, New York on April 10, 1922 and married Anne Flipse on May 17, 1940. They had been residents of Middleburgh since 1949.
Mr. Warner had been employed at a recycling plant, GE and Parson's Ford before opening his own towing and auto repair shop in Middleburgh. He retired in 1984 and sold the business to his eldest son.
Mr. Warner enjoyed snowmobiling and was a stock car enthusiast for many years, owning and racing several cars. He belonged to the Schoharie Emergency Radio Group and was an avid CB and HAM radio operator for many years, talking to other HAM radio operators from Alaska to the Caribbean, as well as throughout Europe and Asia. After retiring, he and his wife bowled regularly with the Senior Citizens league in Cobleskill.
Survivors include three sons, Charles(Charleen) Warner, David (Diane) Warner, Timothy (Virginia) Warner, two daughters, Judith(Mark) Beeler and Lila Jean (Daniel) Mudge; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Laurine Roe, of Arizona.
He was predeceased by his wife, Anne, an infant daughter, Ellen Marie, a grandson, David Warner, Jr., three brothers and three sisters.
There will be no calling hours; a private graveside service will be held in the spring.
