Cathie Bever

Cathie Lee Bever, 72, died peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at her home in Howes Cave, New York with her family by her side.

Cathie was born on July 31, 1942 in Cobleskill, New York to Charlotte (Woolheater) and William Firman. She graduated from Cobleskill High School and attended SUNY Cobleskill. Cathie married Gordon Bever Jr. on June 29, 1968 and lived in Cobleskill briefly before moving to Howes Cave, New York to raise three children.

Cathie was a loving wife and mother who loved to cook and bake. She enjoyed reading novels, as well as knitting and crocheting. Summertime for Cathie included spending time outside working in her flower or vegetable garden, going on evening walks, or sitting in the bench swing under the tree with her husband. Cathie was passionate about family time and gatherings, especially around the holidays. Her favorite vacation destination was Disney World with her family.

She was predeceased by her father, William Firman, and brother, James Firman.

Cathie is survived by her husband of 47 years, Gordon Bever, Jr.; daughter Melissa (Jerry) Brown of Sharon Springs, NY; daughter Cynthia Bever (Nancy Stoner) of Troy, NY; son Jeffrey (Rebecca) Bever of Howes Cave, New York; six grandchildren, Kyle (Corinne) Brown of Sharon Springs, Jamie Brown of Sharon Springs; Tabatha Bever, Joseph Bever, Andrew Bever, of Howes Cave and Ousmane Diao of Troy, New York); one great-grandson (Bentley Benjamin Brown of Sharon Springs); her mother, Charlotte Bortell of Oneonta; brothers William (Linda) Firman of Orlando, Florida; Terry (Nancy) Firman of Richmondville; and Michael (Susan) Bortell of Sloansville.

Private services will be held at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill with a spring interment in Bramanville-Prospect Cemetery.
