Fultonham- Cassandra "Sandy" E. Hardendorf, 62, of State Route 30, died Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at her home with her loving family at her side.

Born May 18, 1949 in Cobleskill, she was the daughter of Cecil and Caslyn (Mace) Savage.

Sandy was a graduate of Middleburgh Central School and received her Associate's Degree in 1993 from SUNY, Cobleskill. Most recently she was the principal's secretary at the Middleburgh Central School. Sandy founded the MCS Alumni Assoc.

She was a member of MEVAC for thirty-two years and served as the treasurer for twenty-four years. Sandy was also an EMT and Critical Care Technician since 1980. She was one of the original members of the Schoharie County Hazmat team.

Sandy was instrumental in the drafting of "Jason's Law', writing the original petition when Jason Rivenburg, a truck driver, died a tragic death in 2009. She and her husband were recognized as Hometown Heroes for the Red Cross Assoc. in 2006. Sandy was also selected as one of the SUNY Cobleskill's Notable Woman in 2009. For twelve years she served as accountant for the Town of Fulton. In her younger years, Sandy was the first Tiger Cub Leader in Schoharie County and later was a Cub Scout Leader. Active in many aspects of the community, she was also a volunteer for American Cancer Socity, driving patients to appointments.

Sandy was a member of the Fultonham Union Church.

Survivors include her husband, Timothy J. Hardendorf, whom she married July 22, 1972; her children: Dale (Tracy) Hardendorf of Sloansville, Jason (Carrie Schmidt) Hardendorf of Fultonham, Chad (Tina) Hardendorf of Seward, Sarah (Darrell) Hillicoss of Middleburgh; six grandchildren: Louis, Adora, and Alana Hardendorf, Abagail, Haile, and Lillian Hillicoss; her brother, Carl "Butch" (Cathy) Savage of Fultonham, and a sister of Fultonham, along with several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at the Fultonham Union Church, State Route 30, Fultonham, NY with Rev. William Roe officiating. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be private in the family cemetery.
