Carolyn Tillapaugh

Carlisle- Carolyn M. Tillapaugh, 85, formerly of Carlisle, died Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home in Stamford, NY, where she had been a resident for the past two years.

Born May 15, 1927 in Carlisle, she was the daughter of Harold and Helen (McCarthy) Kniskern. Carolyn was a lifelong resident and was active in her community.

She retired from the position of Town Clerk of Carlisle that she served for from 1974 until 1990. Following her retirement she served as an election inspector for several years. She was the Town Historian for many years, a member of the Schoharie County Historical Society, Carlisle Republican Club, and the Schoharie County Garden Club, as well as the hospital auxiliary and the Presbyterian Church.

Carolyn married Floyd Tillapaugh on May 7, 1949 and he predeceased her on December 2, 2003.

Survivors include her two children: Ellen (James) Bogardus of Schoharie and Duane (Gena) Tillapaugh of Cobleskill; and four grandchildren: Eric and Julia Bogardus, and Sara and Emily Tillapaugh.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St, Cobleskill. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM. Burial will be in Carlisle Cemetery.
