Carole Croote

Carole Simmons Croote of Beverly Hills, FL passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017 . She was surrounded by her family and dear friends, and died quickly and unexpectedly from cancer.

Carole retired from the public school system in upstate NY 14 years ago. She was teacher's assistant for students with disabilities. As soon as she retired, she fulfilled a life long dream of moving to Florida. She loved the hot weather and the many friends she made.

Carole had volunteered at The Path where she taught parenting courses. She liked to travel and go on cruises, and she loved her yoga classes and playing dominos and card games with her friends.

A wonderful mother of 6 children, she brought a lot of experience to her teaching! She loved gardening and grew beautiful perineal gardens at her home. Her homemade potato salad was a much requested staple at barbecues and pot luck dinners!

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Bill) Earls, sons: Robert (Debbie) Simmons, John Simmons, Scott (Karen) Simmons, David (Lynn) Simmons and her daughter, Lancey Croote; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Carole also leaves behind her dear friend and companion Dale Smith.

The family would like to thank her wonderful friends, Barbara, Sarah, Corrine, Donna and Becky. We would also like to thank the staff at the Hospice House Lecanto,FL for making our mother comfortable as she left this world and for giving such wonderful emotional support to family and friends.

A graveside service will be held in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery, Tuesday, June 6th at 10am. A celebration of life service will be held in Beverly Hills in September. Contributions in Carole's honor can be made either to The Hospice House of Lecanto or The Resource Center of Hernando.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.
