Richmondville- Mrs. Carol M. Holliday, 66, of High Street, passed away on June 17, 2010 after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 12, 1944, in Passaic, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Josephine (Lalomia) Sternheimer.
Carol enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and yearly vacations to Cape Cod. She hunted, fished, and did ceramics and other crafts.
Carol retired after eight years of working with Cobleskill Richmondville School District at Ryder Elementary School. Prior to that, she was employed for eighteen years at Guilford Mills in Cobleskill, NY.
She was a communicant of the former St. Anna's Catholic Church in Summit, a member of Ryder Elementary PTA and 4H.
Carol was predeceased by her brother, Arthur C. Sternheimer, who died in 2008.
Survivors include her loving husband of 47 years, Thomas W. Holliday, whom she married April 25, 1963; two sons: Thomas A. (Karen) Holliday and Robert K. (Michele) Holliday, both of Richmondville; four grandchildren: Cassidy J., Nathan T., Alyssa A., Abigail M. Holliday; sister-in-law: MaryAnn Sternheimer of Richmondville; four nieces: Joann (Billy) Sternheimer of Albany, Christine (David) Cummings of Oak Ridge, NJ, Sheryll (James) Tahiri of Parsippany, NJ, and Kimberly (John) Sternheimer of Esperance; and five great-nieces and nephews: Matthew, Daniel, Joseph, Isabella, and Ava.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill with Rev. Paul Messner officiating. Burial will follow in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery. Friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home from 6 to 8 PM on Saturday.
