Middleburgh- Mrs. Carol Ann Benham, 63, of Squaw Trail, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 31, 2010.

Born December 25, 1946, in New York City, she was a daughter of Andrew and Madeline (Keane) Peck.

Carol had been employed as a bookkeeper/accountant most recently for the Middleburgh School District. Prior to that, she was a bookkeeper for various businesses which include, Schoharie County ARC, Scholet Furniture, and Harvest Homes.

She served as treasurer for the Middleburgh Rod and Gun Club, treasurer for MEVAC, and was on the board of directors for the Cobleskill Golf and Country Club.

Carol was an avid golfer and truly enjoyed riding with the Middleburgh Ambulance. Her time spent with her grandchildren was most pleasurable. She also enjoyed crafts, watching and playing sports, gardening and painting.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph L. Benham, whom she married Sept. 6, 1976; two sons: Edward (Christine) McBain of Midlothian, VA and Timothy (Carolyn) McBain of Mendon, VT; three grandchildren: Carly, and Cassidy McBain of Midlothian, VA, and Madeline McBain of Mendon, VT; her four siblings: Marion Charletta of Summerfield, FL, Madeline Hotaling of Middleburgh, Ronald Peck of Bridgeport, CT. and Janet Smith of Versailles, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 4, 2010 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, Main St., Middleburgh, with Father Thomas Holmes as celebrant. Friends are also invited to attend a period of visitation to be held from 6 to 8 PM on Thurs., June 3, 2010 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh. Burial will be in Middleburgh Cemetery.
