Carmela Stange

Carlisle- Carmela "Millie" Stange, 92, died Sunday, July 18 2010 at Our Lady of Mercy in Guilderland, where she had been a resident since 2007.

Born January 19, 1918 in Jersey City, NJ, to Antonette (nee Tedesco) and Nicola Galietta. She married George Stange in 1942 and they resided in Jersey City their entire married life. He predeceased her in 1995. Millie moved to Carlisle to be with her daughter in 2001. She became a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Cobleskill.

She was also predeceased by her brother, Gennaro Galietta of Jersey City.

Survivors include her daughter, Janice DeSando of Carlisle; two granddaughters: Christina DeSando of Waltham, MA and Jennifer (Steven) Hanes of Cobleskill; two sisters: Madeline St. George and Josephine Serrie; a great-granddaughter, Rebecca Hanes; and many nieces and nephews.

A period of visitation will be held Tuesday, July 20, 2010 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St. Cobleskill, NY. Liturgy of the Word will be held at 7:30 pm Tues. with Sister Connie James of St. Vincent de Paul Church, Cobleskill, following the visitation.
A committal service will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City, NJ.
