Sharon Springs - Carl H. Roberts, 82, of Sharon Springs, New York entered into eternal rest Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Albany Medical Center.
Carl was born December 6, 1940 in Schenectady, the son of Walter and Madeline Bellinger Roberts.
He graduated from Sharon Springs Central School in 1959. He furthered his education at Hudson Valley Community College.
Carl worked many jobs over the years. He worked at Comptone in Canajoharie; eighteen years at Burton (Klein Industries) in Cobleskill; fourteen years for the Town of Sharon Road Crew and several years for GTI Green Trucking. After retirement he spent time as janitor and substitute bus driver for Sharon Springs Central School. However his true passion was farming, helping his grandparents on their farm as a young boy. For many years he had beef cattle and then his own dairy for a few years. Until his health prevented it he helped his daughters with their sheep farm.
On October 19, 1968 he married the "love of his life", Helen Paris Roberts. They shared 54 wonderful fun filled years together. He enjoyed many happy times with his family, especially the grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; daughters, Carleen and Karen; son, George and his wife, Kari all of Sharon Springs; grandson, Donovan Roberts; granddaughters, Darienne Roberts of Port Orange, FL; grandson, Levi Roberts of Sharon Springs; step-granddaughter, Ashley Coons of Richfield Springs. He also has a great-granddaughter, Scarlett of Richfield Springs. Carl is survived by his brothers, Richard (Diana) Roberts of Tavares, FL and William Roberts of Sharon Springs; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a very special cousin, Shirley Dingman Hoerle and her family.
He was predeceased by his parents; step-grandson, Tyler Woods; and great-granddaughter, Addison Cutter; and sister-in-law, Nancy Roberts.
Carl was a very active member of Zion St. John's Lutheran Church for many years serving as Treasurer and Church Council Member. He was also a member of Sharon Springs Rescue Squad for several years.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 11:00am at Zion St. John's Lutheran Church, 114 Mesick Ave., Cobleskill (Seward), NY with Pastor Wendy Cook and Pastor Paul Messner co-officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 6:00-8:00PM at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY 12043. A Committal Service will be held 10AM on Thursday. May 25, 2023 at Slate Hill Cemetery, Sharon, NY.
