Middleburgh: Carl Robert Leisy passed away on July 23, 2009.
Bob was born July 19, 1929 in Woodbury, NJ. His parents were Carl and Ann Leisy.
Bob attended "The Art Student League of New York City." He also graduated from Philadelphia School of the Bible.
Bob served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
In 1969, Bob and his family moved from New Jersey to the Pacific Northwest, having received a call to serve the Lord Jesus Christ under Stonecraft Ministries. This call entailed serving small, rural gospel churches with Village Missions. This service also involved representing this organization in New England and Eastern Canada.
In his retirement, he served as pastor of the Summit, NY Methodist Church. During this time, he made his home in Middleburgh, NY.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Virginia Cartwright and a brother-in-law, Robert Cartwright.
He is survived by three sons, Joel of Redmond, WA, Tim of Grants Pass, OR, Jeff of Dubois, WY and his present wife of 18 years is Margery Weerheim Charles Leisy and 8 grandchildren. Bob also has two sisters, Judith Frazure of Woolrich, NJ, Fay Bradley of North Carolina and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30am on Saturday August 1, 2009 at the Community Baptist Church in Sewell, NJ. Burial will be in Winona Cemetery. A visitation period will be held from 9:30-10:30am, Saturday, at the church, prior to the service.
Locally a memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Sat., Aug. 8, 2009 at the Breakabeen Presbyterian Church, Breakabeen, NY.
Memorials may be sent to the Ministry of the Solitary Place, a cottage for the purpose of spiritual retreating, Solitary Place, Ltd., 897 Guinea Rd. Middleburgh, NY 12122.
The Ministry of Solitary Place will continue to serve as a spiritual retreat house.
