Middleburgh- Carl W. Jones, 72, of High Grove Lane, died Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.
Born December 27, 1938 in Seward, NY, he was a son of William and Cora (Brown) Jones.
Carl was a United States Army veteran, serving from 1957 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1962.
For many years he was head of maintenance at the former Mountain View Manor Home for Adults in Middleburgh. For the past five years he was a driver for Coxsackie Transport.
Carl was lottery ticket enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife, Sue (Breymeier) Jones, whom he married January 8, 1964; his son: Carl (Hope) Jones of Middleburgh; a granddaughter: Alicia Jones of Middleburgh; three sisters: Barbara Lane of Gloversville, Marie Brooker of Richmondville, and Irma Bates of West Virginia; a brother, Lyman Jones of Chiefland, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh with Rev. Pacia Ferrell Vamvas of the Lawyersville Reformed Church officiating. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home from 10 to 11 AM Sat., prior to the service.
