Bonita (Bonnie) Bowes

Richmondville- Bonita (Bonnie) Bowes, 83, of Summit Street, died Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Cobleskill Regional Hospital following years of declining health.

Born July 23, 1937 in Cortland, NY, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Rebecca (Vincent) Brone.

Bonnie was raised in the Rochester area, graduating from East High School and continued her education at SUNY Cobleskill where she received an associate degree.  For many years she was an accounting tutor for EOP students at SUNY Cobleskill and worked in the college library.

A strong advocate and volunteer, Bonnie served on the board of Schoharie County ARCfor 37 years.  She was a member of the Richmondville Planning Board as well as Planned Parenthood.  Bonnie had many wonderful attributes that she was known for such as her kindness as well as being loving, giving, devoted, and committed to her marriage, community, and all that she was involved with.

In her leisure, Bonnie enjoyed sewing and gardening.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Thomas Bowes; sister, Kathleen (Douglas) Freese of Saugerties; 8 nieces, 1 nephew, and several grandnieces and grandnephews.

A period of visitation will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 from 1PM to 3PM at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.  Face coverings and social distancing will be respected by all in attendance at the funeral home. Family and friends are also invited to an informal gathering to share memories and stories from 4PM to 6PM at the Bowes residence, 228 Summit St., Richmondville, NY.
