Blaine Baker

Cobleskill- Blaine H. Baker, 30, of North Grand St., died on Thursday, July 4, 2013.

Born June 15, 1983 in Santa Fe, NM, he is the son of Frank and Deborah Harlow Baker. Raised in Santa Fe, Blaine had resided in Brooklyn for six years prior to moving to Cobleskill in 2012.

He aspired to become a goat farmer, which brought him to further his education at SUNY Cobleskill. While attending college to study dairy production and animal health, he was a residential assistant for the school, where he acted as a counselor helping many of the new students get acclimated to college life.

Blaine had a passion for music, progressive politics and world travel.

Blaine was a kind, sensitive and generous man who was widely loved by many. He felt strongly about equality and social justice and stood up unflinchingly to anything he saw to be an injustice.

For several years he worked as a lighting technician and electrician, and for many years before that he worked as a waiter, sharing his friendly personality with the public.

Survivors include his parents who live in Santa Fe, NM; his sister, Rachel Baker of Santa Fe, NM; his brother, Brent Baker and sister in-law Teagan Blackburn and three nieces, Felix Chrome, Teah and Tria Baker of Pearl River NY; his maternal grandmother, Hilda Harlow and his uncle, Tim Harlow, both of Harrisonburg, VA area.

A memorial service will be held at 6 PM on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the American Tavern, South Grand St., Cobleskill
