Fultonham- Billy Joe Watson, 68, of Redling Road, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Cobleskill Regional Hospital.
Born October 6, 1946 in Loris, SC, he was the son of Hayward Lee and Willa Mae (Cannon) Watson.
Known to most as Joe, he was a United States Army veteran serving from 1967 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1969.
Joe was employed for thirty-two years at General Electric in Schenectady, working in various capacities. He enjoyed attending the Mud Fest in Esperance, gardening, hunting, and harvesting maple syrup. Joe also found pleasure in creating the Schoharie County Walking Stick, with his cliché being, "Made by God, created by Joe".
He was predeceased by his parents, and brothers: David, Hayward Leo, Gene Ray Watson and two sisters: Rachel H. Schrom and Joyce Faye Tucker.
Survivors include his wife: Deveral (Mickle) Watson, whom he married June 5, 1971; son: Joseph (Melisa) Watson; daughter: April (David) Layton; four grandchildren: Christopher Watson, Mitchel and Aiyana Hoyt, and Kadan Layton; his sister: Sandra Arnold; three brothers: Donald Watson, Jackie Watson, and Sammy Watson; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
A Service of Death and Resurrection will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 6, 2015 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Church St., West Middleburgh with The Rev. Dr. Nina George-Hacker presiding. There will be no public viewing hours. Burial will be private.
