Middleburgh: Betty E. Urrey, 89, of Clauverwie, died Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Cobleskill Regional Hospital after being stricken at her residence.
Born April 5, 1925 in Middleburgh, she was the daughter of Frederick and Edna (Nolte) Urrey.
Betty was a 1943 graduate of Middleburgh Central School. She retired in 1987 after twenty-six years of being a statistical clerk at NYS Dept. of Health.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church and was active in the Rosary Society as well as being a member of the Middleburgh Golden Age Club.
In her younger years she played oboe in the Albany Symphony Orchestra, enjoyed classical music, reading, painting, and loved animals.
Survivors include her sister-in-law: Martha Urrey of Middleburgh; five nieces: Toni Urrey, Vicky Fuller, Michelle Bellinger all of Middleburgh, Terri Urrey of Richmondville, and Gail Simeon of Middleburgh; four nephews: Jeffrey Urrey of Schoharie, James Urrey of Middleburgh, Carl Urrey of Cobleskill, and Dale Urrey of Middleburgh.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, Main St., Middleburgh with Rev. Matthew Wetsel as celebrant. A period of visitation will take place from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh. Spring interment will be in Middleburgh Cemetery.
