Sharon Springs- Betty A. Van Aller, 73, of State Highway 10, died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Cobleskill Regional Hospital.
Born October 31, 1939 in Grovenors Corners, she was a daughter of Elmer and Jennie (Matthias) Freed. Betty was a graduate of the former Cobleskill Central School. For several years she was the secretary at Calvary Assembly of God Church.
Betty enjoyed genealogy research, reading and singing. She attended Flat Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Leon H. Van Aller, whom she married October 5, 1957; her three children: Joey (Jan) Van Aller of Sharon Springs, Jeffery (Janice) Van Aller of Cobleskill, and Jenny (George) Kahl of Gilboa; her sister: Shirley Thompson of Watkins Glen; brother: Elwood Freed of Cobleskill; and six grandchildren: Shailene, Samantha, and Shawn Van Aller, Annalise, Ephraim, and Bella Kahl.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, January 11, 2013 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. Officiating will be Rev. George Kahl, her son-in-law. Family and friends are also invited to a time of visitation to be held at the funeral home on Fri. prior to the service, from 2 to 4 PM. Interment will be in Grosvenors Corners Cemetery in the Spring.
