Bettie Gage

Middleburgh- Bettie J. Gage, 72, of Brookside Lane, formerly of Cobleskill, died Saturday, January 14, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam.

Born July 17, 1944 in Chestertown, MD, she was the daughter of Gerald T. and Anna Mae (Russum) Wright.

Bettie was a 1962 graduate of the former Cobleskill Central School. She had been employed as a cook at Mrs. K's Kitchen in Middleburgh and had worked at the Everything Shop in both Cobleskill and Middleburgh.

Bettie enjoyed reading, watching western shows, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family, especially the grandchildren.

Survivors include her five children: Sandra Houck of Troy, Sara Probst (Richard Rustici) of West Moreland, Roger Barner (Jennifer Abel) of Mayfield, Shana Wright of Rock Hall, MD, and Susan Gage of Poughkeepsie; 17 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson; three brothers: William Wright of Cobleskill, James Wright of Jacksonville, FL, and Robert (Gail) Wright of Cobleskill; her companion of 15 years, James Wiseman and his two sons: Caleb and Ryland Wiseman all of Middleburgh.

Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation to be held from 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. There will be no formal funeral service.
