Middleburgh- Bernice Ammons, 87, of Keyserkill Road, died Friday, January 30, 2015 at her daughter's residence.
Born February 27, 1927 in the town of Fulton, she was the daughter of Irvin and Grace (Van Wormer) Bellinger.
Bernice was a graduate of Middleburgh Central School. She served as a public notary for many years and was employed at the Middleburgh News and later the Mountain Eagle. She was a reporter, photographer, and performed various office jobs at the newspaper as well.
Her hobbies included fishing, camping, motorcycle riding, and boating, with the intent of fishing. Bernice loved ice cream, and in fact, would eat dessert first to be sure she had room for it!
She married Rodney Ammons on March 27, 1948 in Middleburgh and he predeceased her Nov. 27, 1999. Her brother, Alfred Bellinger, also predeceased her.
Bernice is survived by her daughter: Leona Buskey of Warnerville; grandson: Roderick (Kristina) Packard of Howes Cave; great-granddaughter: Jeanette C. Packard of Texas; two sisters: Marian Nichols of Breakabeen and Anna Mae Raines of Chandler, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at Breakabeen Cemetery at a later date. There will be no calling hours or public funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, Inc., PO Box 40, Howes Cave, NY 12092.
