Richmondville- Mrs. Beatrice "Aunt Bea" Christian Jaycox, 95, of Main Street, and most recently of the Saratoga Care Nursing Home in Saratoga Springs, NY, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2009 with her family at her side.

Mrs. Jaycox was born October 19, 1913 in Conesville, NY, and was a daughter of Hayward and Valeria (Christian) Makely.

A lifelong resident of Richmondville, she was a member of the first graduating class from the former Richmondville Central School in 1931. She was also a dedicated member of the Richmondville United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women's Club, Marion Study Club, Senior Citizen Club, and a Quilt Show member. She will be greatly missed by all she touched and most remembered for her generous heart and love of life which was complimented by her family and numerous wonderful friends.

For many years, Bea worked at the General Electric Co. and M.I.C.A. in Schenectady, NY.

She was predeceased by her first husband, J.R. Harris of Richmondville, her second husband, Van Tuyl Wood Jaycox of Richmondville, and one brother, Donald Makely.

Mrs. Jaycox is survived by her dedicated brother, Alton D. Makely of Country Boy Realty, her beloved niece, Susan Makely of Middleburgh, NY and was an Aunt but mostly a devoted surrogate mother to her loving niece, Cynthia (Michael) Lisuzzo of Rexford, NY.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, March 8, 2009 at the Richmondville United Methodist Church, 266 Main Street, Richmondville, NY with ample parking behind the US Post Office at Main and Summit Streets. Officiating will be Rev. Marvin Batcher with Rev. Victor Zaccaro assisting. Friends are also invited to attend a period of visitation from 5 to 7:30 PM on Saturday at the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill, NY 12043.

Spring interment will be in Richmondville Rural Cemetery.

The family has requested Memorial Contributions be made to the Richmondville United Methodist Church, 266 Main St., Richmondville, NY 12149 or Saratoga Hospital Foundation, 211 Church St, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
