Richmondville- Barbara Ann Lynn Sperbeck, 63, of State Route 7, died Friday, September 15, 2017, at her residence while in the care of her family.
Born July 8, 1954 in Jersey City, NJ, she was the daughter of Robert C. and Beatrice M. (Powell) Johnston.
She is survived by her children: Sara (Todd) Del Marter of Richmondville, Kristin Cory "KC" (Alicia-Marie) Sperbeck of Worcester, Alan (April) Sperbeck, Jr of Richmondville, Michael Sperbeck of Worcester, and Angela Sperbeck of Richmondville; her boyfriend of many years, Richard Ryder of Richmondville.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her very special friend, Claudia.
Barbara was an avid genealogist and was happy to have connected to her birth family late in life. She was a talented artist, interior decorator and landscaper. Barbara loved spending time in her winter home in Homosassa, FL and also being able to volunteer with the local hospital auxiliary to raise funds for new equipment.
Barbara had various occupations, one of which was a registered respiratory therapist for many years, a roller operator assisting in the construction of I88, and a painter for Superior Housing.
Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation from 3 PM to 5 PM on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Monday, September 18, 2017 at Mount Rock Cemetery, Kristi Lane, Lewistown, PA.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cobleskill Regional Hospital Auxiliary, 178 Grandview Dr., Cobleskill, NY 12043.
