Carlisle- Barbara Grasso, 73, of Carlisle, died Saturday, June 17, 2017 at home after a short illness surrounded by family.

Born November 5, 1943 in Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of Emma and Frederick Beck.

Barbara was a 1961 graduate of Edgemont High school in Scarsdale, NY.

After graduation, she worked for Readers Digest. She moved to Richmondville in 1982 and worked at the Radez School in Richmondville . She also spent many years as a volunteer on the ambulance squad. In later years, she also worked in retail.

Barbara married John Grasso on March 28, 1992. They spent many years camping. They made many new friends and enjoyed sitting around the campfire at night. She enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking.

Her husband, John Grasso, predeceased her in 2015.

Survivors include two daughters: Debbie (Derik) Winnie of Sharon Springs and Michelle Davenport of Cobleskill; stepson, Anthony Grasso; five grandchildren: Dustin Winnie, Alicia (Mike) Lundgren, Amanda Davenport, Shelby Davenport and Jyllian Grasso; two great-grandchildren; two nieces: Jennifer Petersen and Amy Rudnyai.

Barbara has made a generous gift of life to the anatomical gift program at Albany Medical College in hopes for a cure for cancer.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at The Winnie Residence, 1596 Highway Route 20, Sharon Springs, NY 13459.

Memorial contributions may be made to a Marathon for a Better Life, PO Box 268, Warnerville, NY 12187.

Barbara's family is being assisted by Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.
