Barbara J. Cleary, 76, of Cobleskill joined her family and friends in heaven on Saturday, November 12, 2022.
Born October 17th, 1946 in Flushing Queens NY, she was the daughter of Terence and Alice (Goette) Gillespie
Barbara was a graduate of the former Cobleskill Central School and after many years of employment she retired from Sterling Insurance as the Assistant Vice President.
Following retirement, Barbara enjoyed traveling, spending many winters in Myrtle Beach and Florida , golfing, and working part time at Grapevine Farms. Time spent with her family was that which she treasured the most.
She was a strong advocate for Marathon for a Better Life, supporting her ongoing battle with cancer and her daughter, Beth's struggle against cancer.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Beth Wood who died in 2020 and her brother-in-law, Peter Hattem.
Forever cherishing her memories are her husband, Gerard Cleary of Cobleskill, NY, daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Jeff VanDeusen, of Cobleskill; her surviving siblings: Kathleen Holmes of Bradenton, FL, Patricia (Douglas) Wolfe of Malta, Daniel (Patricia) Gillespie of Castleton-on-the-Hudson and James (Jennifer) Gillepsie of Barnerville; son-in-law, David Wood of Middleburgh; and grandchildren: Bryan Wood, Mitchell Wood and Sydney VanDeusen and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life that will be held at 2 PM at Fusion Community Church, 375 North Grand St., Cobleskill on Friday, Nov. 18, 2022 where a period of visitation will be held prior to that from 12PM to 2PM. .
Memorial contributions may be made to Marathon For a Better Life, PO Box 268, Warnerville, NY 12187.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.
