Augusta Clair
Richmondville- Augusta M. Clair, 90, formerly of Richmondville and Cobleskill, died Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home, Stamford, NY, where she had been a resident for the past four years.
Born March 2, 1923 in Cobleskill, she was the daughter of Martin and Emma (Dingman) Bishop.
Augusta resided most of her adult life in Oriskany Falls, but while living in the Cobleskill area, she was employed as a cook and waitress for the former Hotel Augustin and Empire Restaurant. She had also worked at Chesebrough Ponds, Oriskany Falls and Beechnut Factory in Canajoharie.
She adored her cats, Patsy and Fluffy-Ann.
Survivors include her daughter: Linda McGowan of Richmondville; granddaughter: Liz (Brian) Hoffman of Richmondville; two great-granddaughters: Alysha and Brooke Hoffman; and a nephew: Gary Matt Bishop of Wisconsin.
In keeping with Augusta's request, there will be no calling hours or public funeral service. Inurnment will be in Old Stone Fort Cemetery in the Spring.
