Cobleskill- Arlene Rose Rapant, 87, of Mineral Springs Road, died Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Cobleskill Regional Hospital.
Arlene was born on February 15, 1930 in Schenectady, the daughter of Walter R. and Rose (Oswald) Hummel.
She received her license as a Registered Nurse from St. Mary's School of Nursing in Amsterdam and worked in many area hospitals. Arlene retired in 1992 from Cobleskill Community Hospital.
She married Frank Rapant, Jr. on June 17, 1951 and they lived in Alaska for a period of time before settling in Duanesburg, NY. In 1978, she moved to Cobleskill with her son David, who predeceased her in 2011.
Arlene was a bee keeper, an avid sewer, gardener, tending to her vegetables and flowers. She loved to cook and always seem to find injured animals that she would nurse back to health.
Survivors include two siblings: Charlotte Hummel and Walter Hummel, both of Schenectady; two granddaughters: Allison M. Rapant and Amanda R. Rapant, both of Cobleskill along with their mother, Audrey D. Rapant.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 138 Washington Ave., Cobleskill where a period of visitation will precede from 9:30 to 10AM.
