Howes Cave: Anton "Tony" Nirschl, Jr., 84, of Sagendorf Corners Road went to his Heavenly home Tuesday, November 26, 2013.

He was born in Patria, NY on March 3, 1929, the oldest of twelve children of Elinor (Stanton) and Anton Nirschl, Sr.

Anton attended the one room school in Patria and graduated from Coynn Electrical in Chicago. He was drafted into the United States Army, serving from 1950 to 1952, achieving the rank of Corporal. He worked in communications on IBM and Philco computers.

After his honorable discharge, Tony graduated from the Capital Radio Engineering Institute.

He owned and operated Tony's TV Sales and Service on Division Street in Cobleskill, later moving the business to the Lawyersville Post Office building. A master repairman, he was known as Mr. Fixit and the Lonely Maytag Repairman.

He was a charter member of the former Open Bible Baptist Church, the last member of the Schoharie County Gideons and was devoted to the work of the church

Tony was predeceased by his daughter: Mary Beth.

He is survived by his wife Pauline (Flint) Nirschl, whom he married on October 27, 1956 and daughter: June (Thomas) Tessier and their children: Thomas II, Brandon, Brently, Brynn and Hannah, all of Asheboro, N.C.; son: Anton (Colleen Saeli) W. Nirschl and their children: Jacqueline, Trent and Emily, all of Cooperstown; siblings: Margaret Nirschl Becker, Josephine Nirschl King, Robert Nirschl, Betty Nirschl Cullen, Beverly Nirschl Kachmarik, Allen Nirschl, Edwin Nirschl, Richard Nirschl, David Nirschl, Stephen Nirschl, and Susan Nirschl Davis.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Monday December 2, 2013 at the Valley Bible Baptist Church, 745 Mineral Springs Rd., Cobleskill, NY 1243 with Rev. Shawn Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery. A period of visitation will be held form 5:00-7:00PM at the Valley Bible Baptist Church on Sunday December 1, 2013.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care, 795 East Main St., Suite 11, Cobleskill, NY 12043.

Arrangements have been entrusted have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill and Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St , Middleburgh .
