Anne Warner

Mrs. Anne Flipse Warner died Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home in Stamford, NY.

Mrs. Warner was born in The Hague, Netherlands on February 12, 1917 and came to the United States as a child. She became a naturalized citizen in 1928 and had been a resident of Middleburgh since 1949.

In 1931, she was forced to drop out of school during the depression because her parents couldn't afford to buy books to send her to school. She worked at various jobs in Paterson, NJ until moving to Triangle Lake with her parents. At the age of 45, married with five children, she returned to school to obtain her high school degree, which had been a lifelong desire. Three years later, she was named to the National Honor Society and in 1966 she graduated with honors from Middleburgh Central School.

Always community minded, she was a charter member of the Middleburgh Volunteer Ambulance Corp. and was dispatcher for seven years. Mrs. Warner was also a village trustee for twelve years.

Mrs. Warner was a self-taught carpenter and plumber and was instrumental in building the family home with her talents. She was an avid gardener who grew both vegetables and flowers and could be found out in the garden up until her 89th year. She loved to read and believed that one could accomplish anything through hard work and perseverance. She was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Cecil C. Warner; three sons: Charles (Charleen) Warner, David (Diane) Warner, and Timothy (Virginia) Warner; two daughters: Judith (Mark) Beeler, and Lila Jean (Daniel) Mudge; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Eleanor (John) Avener. She was predeceased by an infant daughter, Ellen Marie Warner, a grandson, David Warner, Jr., three brothers, and two sisters.

Per her request, there will be no funeral services. A private memorial service will be held for the family and close friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Middleburgh Emergency Volunteer Ambulance Corp. P.O. Box 819, Middleburgh, NY 12122 or St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942, or Catskill Area Hospice, 327 West Main St., Suite 3, Cobleskill, NY 12043.
