Clifton Park- Angelo R. Ferrara, 84, formerly of the Catskill area, died at his residence on Thursday, September 6, 2012 following a long illness.
Born May 16, 1928 in Barletta, Italy, he was a son of Gaetano and Nunzia (Calo) Ferrara. As a youngster escaping the Nazi Camps, Angelo immigrated to the United States in 1955.
He was worked in fine dining restaurants in both New York City and California for the majority of his career. Angelo and his family lived in NY City, California for thirteen years, and the Catskill area.
Angelo loved the Sharon Springs and Cooperstown areas, enjoying the mountains and the ability to grow his own grapes for wine producing and gardening. Spending time with family was that which brought him the most pleasure.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years: Maxine Ferrara; three sons: Robert (Deborah) Ferrara, Cary Ferrara, and Claude Ferrara; and two grandchildren:
Jacquelyn Ferrara and Zachary Ferrara.
A private funeral liturgy will be held at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, with Deacon Gary Surman of St. Vincent de Paul Church officiating. Burial will follow in Slate Hill Cemetery, Sharon.
