Andre Maurice

Richmondville- Andre M. Maurice, 48, of Depot Street, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown after being stricken at his residence.

He was born November 18, 1965 in Cobleskill and was the son of Emile and Marian (Myers) Maurice.

He was predeceased by his father who died in 2006.

Andre was a 1986 graduate of the former Richmondville Central School. In 2006, he became the receiving clerk for the Town of Richmondville Recycling Center. He was also a long time member of the Richmondville Volunteer Emergency Squad and an election inspector for the Village of Richmondville.

He enjoyed reading and researching history, playing video games and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Andre is survived by his mother, as well as his two sisters: Karen Possemato of Sharon Springs and Maria Jones of Cobleskill; two nephews: William Borthwick, Jr. of Niskayuna and Matthew Jones of Myrtle Beach, SC; two nieces: Kayla Mahoney of Howes Cave and Sarah Jones of Cobleskill.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, March 30 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill with Stephen Lape officiating. A calling hour will be held from 2-3 pm prior to the service.

Burial will be in Richmondville Rural Cemetery in the spring.
