Middleburgh- Mrs. Alvira Slater, 94, of Baker Ave., died Saturday, September 9, 2006 at Bassett Hospital of Schoharie County in Cobleskill following a short illness.
Mrs. Slater was born March 10, 1912 in Medusa, a daughter of Arthur and Adeline (Carpenter) Warner.
She was a homemaker all her life and had picked hops on the Middleburgh flats and was employed at the Middleburgh Laundry for several years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Slater, who died in 1973; a granddaughter, Alanna Shaul, a grandson, Randy Becker, and a son-in-law, Daniel Diamond, as well as 9 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include 2 daughters: Dorothy Diamond of Middleburgh, Pearl (Alan) Shaul of Middleburgh; 2 sons: Pete (Viola) Slater of Middleburgh, and Roger (Kathy) Slater of Carlisle; a sister-in-law: LaDora Warner of Watervliet; 20 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at Palmer & Shaylor, Inc. Funeral Home 134 River Street Middleburgh. Burial will be in Middleburgh Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 AM on Tuesday, prior to the service
