Alvin Tripp

Carlisle- Alvin D. Tripp, 81, of Grovenors Corners Road, died Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.

Born October 8, 1929 in Bristol, CT, he was a son of Percy and Rena (Bunnel) Tripp.

Alvin worked on the Eureka Farms in Cobleskill for many years. He enjoyed hiking, picnicking, attending college basketball games and was an avid reader, especially the newspapers. Alvin was a former bowler and roller-skater.

He was a member of the Open Bible Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn (Bellinger) Tripp, whom he married July 29, 1956; his four children: Barbara (Lee) Pullman of Carlisle, Cindy (George) Tracy of Vero Beach, FL, Phillip Tripp of Carlisle, and Kathy Tripp of Carlisle; two brothers: Howard (Faye) Tripp of Glennville, GA, and Warren (Frances) Tripp of Groton, VT; five grandchildren: Julie Rehberg, Christian Tripp, Zachary Tripp, Mackenzie Tripp, and Natalee Tracy.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at the Open Bible Baptist Church, Mineral Springs Road, Cobleskill with Rev. Matt Heller officiating. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the church from 10 to 11 AM prior to the service. Spring inurnment will be in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Open Bible Baptist Church P.O. Box 274, Cobleskill, NY 12043.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill and Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home of Middleburgh.
