Alton Gray

Cobleskill- Alton L. Gray, 78, of State Route 10, died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at the Westchester Medical Center Trauma Unit.
Mr. Gray was born December 6, 1928 in the Town of Fulton (Schoharie County) and was the son of Newell D. and Carrie C. (Myers) Gray.
He was a self employed television repairman, operating Gray's TV in Oneonta for several years. Mr. Gray enjoyed antique John Deere tractors and old- time fiddle music, along with spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He was a United States Army Veteran serving from 1950 until 1952 with the 511th Airborne Infantry and was decorated with a Parachute Badge.
Survivors include his wife, Aileen J. Gray whom he married October 31, 1953 at the United Methodist Church in Richmondville; his son, Gary L. Gray of Advance, MO; 2 daughters: Joni Gray of Littleton, NH, and Jerri Alkinburgh of Nelliston, NY; his sister, Marion (Gray) Hammond of Oneonta; 5 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 21, at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home 171 Elm St. Cobleskill with his nieces and nephews conducting the service. Burial will be private. There will be no calling hours.
