Middleburgh- Almeda Bowman, 87, of Mountain Path, died Sunday, February 19, 2012 at her home.
Born October 27, 1924 in Tampa, FL, she was a daughter of James Elliot and Bertha Mae (Stanfield) Bolton.
Almeda had been a resident of Middleburgh since 1965 and was a homemaker. Time spent with her grandchildren and family was that which made her happiest. She did have a special interest in music, particulary playing the organ, singing, gardening, and nature.
Almeda married Russell L. Bowman on Nov. 12, 1944 and he predeceased her in March of 1983.
Survivors include her sister:Lena Ann Bolton (Al) Watton of Tampa, FL; her four children: Latrelle Alotta (Charlie Noonan) of East Greenbush, NY, Terry (Patrice) Bowman of Middleburgh, Gerald (Mary) Bowman of Middleburgh, and Lavon (William) White of Vineland, NJ; seven grandchildren: Russell Bowman (John Cooke) of Columbus, OH, Carrie Bowman of Fultonham, Chrystal (Kris) Kornelli of Delanson, Tammie Bowman of Schoharie, Chad Bowman of Cobleskill, Renee (Jeffrey) Kaminsky of East Greenbush, and Alicia (Kevin) Courtney of Ocean City, MD; and six great-grandchildren: Kylie Courtney, Braiden Cole, Madelyn, Leanne, and Caitlyn Kaminsky, and Kenna Kornelli.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 to 2:00PM on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 in the Community Room at Cliff Side Apartments in Middleburgh.
A funeral service will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill with Rev. Carol Coltrain of Huntersland United Methodist Church officiating. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held prior to the service at the funeral home from 4 to 5 PM. Burial will be at a later date in Middleburgh Cemetery.
