Allan Nirschl, Sr.

East Worcester- Allan H. Nirschl, Sr., 82, formerly of East Worcester, died Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Albany Medical Center following a long illness.

Born December 19, 1939, in Patria, he was the son of Anton and Elinor (Stanton) Nirschl.

Allan was a United States Army veteran from 1963 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1965. He was a dairy farmer for over 20 years.  Then he worked as a New York State apiary inspector and was an avid beekeeper with over 200 hives.  Allan had a passion for nature and wildlife.   Every year he eagerly looked forward to hunting season and being in the woods. Allan was a spiritual man.  He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on July 13, 1985, at an international convention in Montreal, Canada.

Allan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was predeceased by his first wife Joyce (Weis), brothers: Anton, Robert "Bus", Richard, and sisters: Josephine and Margaret.

Survivors include his wife whom he married on March 14, 1998, Joan (Kennedy) Nirschl, of Schoharie; his three children: Allan (Nancy) Nirschl, Jr. of Howes Cave, Rebecca Nicoli of Selkirk and Shawn Nirschl of East Worcester; step-daughters: Denise Baker of Middleburgh and Belinda Shepard of Sloansville; grandchildren: Benjamin (Leanna) Nirschl of Central Bridge, Seth Nicoli of Schodack, Natasha (Thomas) Rifenburgh of Worcester, Alexa Nirschl of Cherry Valley, Susan Shepard, Kaytlynn (Joe) Sperbeck, William (Heather) Baker and great-grandchildren: Soren and Judit Nicoli, Kayley and Levi Sperbeck, William, Jr., Dominic and Owen Baker; and siblings: Beverly (Robert) Kachmarik of Harrisburg, NC, Betty Cullen of Seward, Edwin (Kathy) Nirschl of Maryland, NY, David (Linda) Nirschl of PA, Stephen (Barbara) Nirschl of Dorloo and Susan (Gary) Davis of Seward and many nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held for the family at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.  Spring interment will be in Sharon Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to East Worcester Emergency Squad, 70 Main St., East Worcester, NY 12064.
