Jefferson- Alice DiCocco Vokins, 89, of North Harpersfield Road, died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Cobleskill Regional Hospital, after being stricken at her home.

Born March 4, 1925 in Schenectady, she was the daughter of John and Elena (Ferro) DiCocco.

Alice was employed as a purchasing agent for H.S. Barney Co. in Schenectady from the World War II era until the business closed in the 1960's. She then was hired as a tour escort for Wade Tours for over thirty years.

Alice found great pleasure in gardening and cooking, but most of all, caring for her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In 2000, Alice moved from Schenectady to live with her brother and sister-in-law in Jefferson. She was predeceased by her husband: Thomas, and two brothers: Nicholas and Anthony.

Survivors include her three brothers: Dominic DiCocco of Schenectady, John (Barbara) DiCocco of Jefferson, and Robert DiCocco of San Antonio, TX; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. Officiating will be Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday. Burial will be in West Jefferson Cemetery.
