Alice Urschel 68, a long time resident of Schoharie County died
3/8/06 at the Bassett Hospital of Schoharie County, Cobleskill,
NY after a long and beautiful life.
Alice was born 4/10/37 in the Bronx. She was the only child of
John and Alice (Cunningham) Urschel.
She lived with her family in the Bronx and Greene County until
1980. Alice then moved into State Operated Family Care Program.
While she lived in a couple of homes her primary residence was
with Barbara Farnsworth in Cobleskill, NY. Alice also lived at
the Middleburgh IRA earlier this year.
Alice worked for many years at Toe Path Industries and also
attended the Schoharie County ARC Day Habilitation Program. She
bowled with the DDSO team and also attended Friendship Club.
Alice had been selected as Employee of the Year at ARC. Alice
loved baseball, football,colorful beaded jewelry, family
gatherings, catalogues, and dining out. Alice appreciated so many
of the things in her life. Her loving ways and gentle,
affectionate nature was endeared by all who knew her.
Survivors include her cousin Sonny DeVito and his children and
her long time friend and caregiver Barbara Farnsworth and her
family; numerous friends and staff from both the Schoharie County
ARC and the Capital District DDSO.
We will all miss seeing her beautiful smile and the sparkle in
her eyes but Alice's gentle and kind spirit will go on living
within each of us who had the privledge of knowing her.
A funeral service was held Monday, March 13, at Palmer and Shaylor, Inc. Funeral Home 134 River Street, Middleburgh,with
Father Thomas Holmes of St. Catherine's Church officiating. Burial followedMonday at St. Francis De Sales Cemetery, Elka Park, NY.
