Alice Burtzlaff

Fultonham- Alice Burtzlaff, 89, of Partridge Nest Road, died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at her residence following a long illness.

Born January 4, 1922 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of Alfred and Ida (Kagi) Ronick.

Alice grew up in Jamaica,NY and was a graduate of Jamaica High School. She was married to Arthur Burtzlaff for over fifty years and together they raised their family in New Hyde Park and moved to Schoharie County in 1975. He predeceased her in 1997.

Alice spent most of her life as a homemaker, devoted mother and wife. She loved babies and children, was very invovled with family and friends, and was helpful and kind to everyone. Alice enjoyed playing cards, especially a Swiss game, Jass. She was a wonderful cook and baker, liked music, and always had a bright outlook on life.

Alice was a member of The Hudson-Mohawk Swiss Society, Fultonham Homemakers, the hospital auxiliary and the Lark Street Senior Program in Cobleskill.

Survivors include her three children: Gary (Lynn) Burtzlaff of Mansfield, TX, Judy (Charlie) Shaul of Fultonham, and Terry (Melissa) Burtzlaff of Fultonham; grandchildren: David (Holly) Burtzlaff, Michael (Rebecca) Burtzlaff and Janet (Gregory) Barberee and six great-grandchildren all residing in TX, and Holly Shaul of Downingtown, PA, Lisa Shaul of Fultonham, and Marchy(Gary) Sammons of Breakabeen.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, Sept. 9, 2011 at her residence, 150 Partridge Nest Road, Fultonham, NY for all friends and family. A gathering will follow the service. Burial will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, 795 E. Main St., Suite 11, Cobleskill, NY 12043.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh and Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.
