Alfreda Lawyer

Cobleskill- Alfreda Eunice Lawyer, 94, of Maple Ave., died Thursday, March 26, 2015 at her residence.

Born March 3, 1921 in Cooksburg, she was the daughter of Millard and Eva (Alger) Snyder.

Alfreda graduated from Greenville High School and took great pride in working alongside her first husband, Henry Haskin, on their family farm in Preston Hollow. She always had a bountiful garden and flowerbeds. Henry predeceased her in September of 1982.

Alfreda also was an avid bowler for many years and this is how she met her second husband, LeForest Lawyer, who predeceased her in July of 2011. They lived in Cobleskill for the past twenty plus years.

She hosted Christmas and Easter for all the family until 2014. In 2012, she adopted Snoopy, a rescue cat from the shelter, who was a great companion. He died antics every day that would make her smile and wake her up in the morning with a soft touch of his paw on her face.

Siblings, Donald and Rodney Snyder, and Theresa Lewis predeceased Alfreda.

Survivors include her three children: Sandra Cooke of Cobleskill, Victoria (Robert) Peek of Middleburgh, and Lance (Susan) Haskin of Preston Hollow; two grandchildren: Jeffrey (Jessica) Peek of Pennington, NJ, and Morgan Haskin of Preston Hollow; and two great-grandchildren: Alexander and Gabriella Peek.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Potter Hollow Cemetery, Potter Mountain Road, Preston Hollow, NY. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, Inc., PO Box 40, Howes Cave, NY 12092.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill and Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home of Middleburgh.
