Middleburgh- Albert "Skip" Hartmann, of Middleburgh, passed away peacefully at his home,
with his loving family and friends at his side, on May 16th, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Skip was born on November 14, 1949 in Brooklyn, NY the son of Albert & Margaret (Jones) Hartmann. The family moved to East Branch during Skip's early years where he learned farming and the hard work associated with it. He maintained this work ethic for his entire life.
Skip was a heavy equipment operator for Local 106 and was involved in many civil projects in New York, as well as in Prescott, AZ. His love of his work was clearly expressed just before his passing, excavating a pond for his family's enjoyment.
Skip had a love of motorcycles and enjoyed riding for many years with his friends, "brothers". During his later years, he designed and built a horse barn and an indoor riding arena. He enjoyed raising & showing quarter horses with his wife, Denise, daughter, Crystal and grandchildren Nichole & Zachary. He was a long time member of the NYQHA. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren at their various sporting events.
We would like to express to everyone who attended our Thanksgiving Day get togethers
through the years just how special these occasions were to Skip. For months before he looked
forward to that day and for years afterward he fondly recalled their memories.
He was predeceased by his father, Albert Hartmann, and long time friend, Henry "Van" Pindar.
Skip is survived by his wife of 42 years, Denise; his daughter: Crystal Hartmann; and grandchildren: Nichole and Zachary Perrott of Central Bridge; mother: Margaret Hartmann; sisters: Linda Place and Maureen (Jim) Ressler, all of Dunnellon, FL.; and special friends: Lenny M, Tom L, John M, Rich R and Dick N. Skip was blessed to have had so many friends and loved ones throughout his life, and was thankful for each and every one of them.
At Skip's request, instead of a formal memorial service, friends and family will gather to Celebrate His Life at a later date this summer.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to contribute may do so toward his grandchildren's college fund:
Nichole & Zachary Perrott, C/O NBT Bank, 27 Main Street, Schoharie, NY 12157.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh and Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.
