Huntersland- Alan Ray Porter, 56, of Coons Road, died unexpectedly on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at his residence.
Born March 27, 1958 in Cobleskill, he was the son of the late Ray E. and Mary E. (Belden) Porter.
Alan graduated from Middleburgh Central School and was a lifelong area resident. He retired from the carpenters' union and most recently retired from Porter's Excavating of Middleburgh, where he was a foreman.
Alan was a noble and hardworking man all his life and was committed to his family, friends, and neighbors.
He was predeceased by his brother, Harold, along with his parents.
Survivors include his four sons: Zeth A. Porter (Sandra Whitehead) of Huntersland, Zachary K. (Jessica) Porter of Esperance, Zaron R. Porter (Kelly Ryan) of Charleston, and Zane A. Porter of Warnerville; two sisters: Evelyn Porter and Valerie (Gary) Stephens-Barton both of Middleburgh; two brothers: Roger (Vickie) Porter and Michael (Deborah) Porter both of Huntersland; six grandchildren: Avery Ray Porter, Zyhannah M. Porter, Sophia A. Porter, Chelsea M. Porter, Logan A.J. Porter, and Andrew F. Porter; his loving, caring companion and wife of 15 years, Lisa Franceschini; along with numerous loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh where a period of visitation will be held prior, from 4 to 6 PM. Officiating will be Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church. Cremation will follow the service at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
